In South Africa, the term “matriculation” (matriculation) is used to describe the final year of high school and the diploma received upon graduation, but it actually refers to the minimal requirements for entering a university. Can I finish my matriculation in three months?
- You could theoretically finish your matriculation certificate in three months. You can apply to retake your exams as soon as you fail if you failed your matric year but still want to finish them.
- However, you cannot prepare for and take your matriculation exams in three months.

Students are urged to register for the retake of the matric exam if they wish;
- The registration period for Adult Matric in 2024 began on October 1st, 2023, and will end on January 31, 2023.
Conditions for the Matric Rewrite:
You must fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Matric Upgrade:
- You wrote your matric final exams
- Proof of your exam results
- Statement of your (previous) matric results
- ID document – certified copy
- Email address
- Cell Number
How To Apply For A Matric Rewrite
- To register, you must bring a copy of your ID and your Matriculation certificate or statement of results. When you have gathered all the required paperwork, you can go to your neighborhood district office.
- Apply online at the Second Chance Programme website if you require additional assistance to ensure your readiness. The Second Chance Programme offers a variety of study resources and in-person instruction.
- Can Matric be completed in three months? Although it is possible to complete the matriculation certificate within three months, it is impossible to complete the written and oral examinations.
