Apply for NSFAS Online 2024-2025: If you require financial assistance to pursue tertiary education, consider applying for a bursary from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). NSFAS is a bursary program supported by the Department of Higher Education and Training, designed to assist individuals who lack the financial means to fund their studies and cannot access traditional sources of funding such as bank loans or bursaries.
The NSFAS application cycle spans four months, commencing on August 3 and concluding on November 30. To ensure a successful application, applicants should obtain the necessary supporting documentation and proceed with the online application. Please note that applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Who Qualifies for an NSFAS Bursary?
To be eligible for an NSFAS bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income does not exceed R350,000 per annum
- Individuals with disabilities whose combined household income is no more than R600,000 per annum
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018, with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum.
Required Supporting Documents During the Application Process:
To complete your application successfully, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require specific supporting documents. Ensure you have the following:
- Your personal cellphone number and email address
- A copy of your ID or birth certificate
- National ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse
- Evidence of your income or one year’s IRP5 if applicable
- Proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no income evidence is necessary
- All applicants with a disability should submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- An applicant recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
How to Apply for NSFAS Bursary Online Application
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
How to Check NSFAS Application Status
In order to check NSFAS Application Status, you must follow the simple steps below:
- Visit NSFAS Status website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, log in to myNSFAS account, if you don’t have one, create one. Click HERE
- Enter your User ID
- Type in the password you created during the application process.
- Click “Track Funding Progress” to check your NSFAS Application Status.
