This program is for you if you have the capacity for problem-solving, are imaginative, and have a keen interest in the science of food.
Students are taught how to transform raw materials into cutting-edge, secure, healthful, and delectable food products that are sold in supermarkets during this four-year program. You will learn how to use your knowledge of the basic sciences, including chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, and microbiology, to develop new products and process, preserve, and package food.
Through routine factory visits and required industry training, this program keeps close contact with the South African food industry. You will be exposed to many different facets of food science as a result of this.
Graduates of the BSc Food Sc program may find employment as managers or as creative product developers in the production, product development, quality control, research and development, and technical areas of food companies. They may also work as entrepreneurs, researchers in tertiary and research institutions, or, after gaining enough expertise, consultants for the food industry.
