- On September 11, 2003, the late Minister, Prof. Kadar Asmal, who established the landscape for the then Further Education and Training (FET) sector, established Central Johannesburg TVET College (CJC) at our Alexandra site. The current Minister, Dr. Blade Nzimande, renamed FET Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The College is one of 50 South African public TVET colleges overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). In Gauteng, there are eight TVET colleges.
The College has eight campuses: Ellis Park, Parktown, Alexandra, Riverlea, Langlaagte, Crown Mines, Smit Street, and Troyville. Within a 10-kilometer radius of the Parktown Central Office, the eight campuses are located. - The college offers both nationally accredited National Technical Education (NATED) and National Certificate (Vocational) NC programs (V). Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training verifies the quality of these programs to ensure that a national standard is maintained.
- In addition to the aforementioned programs, the College offers a few skill training courses in collaboration with the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA). The relevant SETA Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) unit accredit and monitor the programs’ quality.

- The application period for Central Johannesburg TVET College for 2024 is from September 1 to November 30. As a result, Central Johannesburg TVET College encourages prospective students to apply for the academic year as soon as possible online by filling out the application form (Hard-Copy).
