  • SWGC provides high-quality vocational education and training. Their main goal is to be ISO compliant and to use all college resources creatively to improve service delivery, employability, and student entrepreneurship.
  • It is critical to understand that if you choose a vocational path such as engineering studies, business studies, or utility studies, you will not need to complete Grade 12 because institutions offer three-year vocational diplomas. This position requires only that you have completed Grade 9, but students who have completed Grade 11 or even Grade 12 are best suited for it.

SWGC Application Submission Open and Close Dates

  • Applications for the SWGC 2024 academic year will be accepted beginning September 1, 2023. The SWGC application deadline is October 30, 2023, for the 2024 academic year.

South West Gauteng TVET College Admission Requirements

NC(V) Course Standards;

  • Students may study for a total of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4, taking into account potential subject failures.
  • The minimum entry requirement is NQF1, or Grade 9 and AET Level 4.
  • The NC (V) policy has served as a guide and a point of reference for the entry requirements. For qualification entry, a point system will be in place.

Report 191 Courses Standards;

  • Minimum admission requirements in accordance with NATED Policy. Graduates of Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4 will be admitted to N4.
  • Occupational Course Prerequisites: Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and wish to pursue a career as an artisan will be admitted to N1 based on a point system.
  • Minimum entry requirements for QCTO/SETA-approved registered skills programs and apprenticeships
  • A student who has previously enrolled in NC(V) or Report 191 programs will only be considered if they have completed the NC(V) or Report 191 program successfully (passed all subjects).

Additional Entry Requirements

  • To improve the effectiveness and quality of specialized programs, the College Council has established additional entry requirements for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4 using a point system.

  • Application forms can be obtained by visiting any of the college campuses or by visiting the college’s official website.
  • Download and fill out the application form through the portal.
  • To support your application, include the following documents:
  • Copy of the most recent certification or results certified identity document that has been authenticated
  • Please attach a medical statement from a licensed doctor if you have a disability or an ongoing medical condition that will necessitate requesting special assistance from the College.

Please keep in mind that printed application forms must be filled out completely and legibly with a black pen. Your application must be signed. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
