CPUT Application for Accommodation 2024-2025

CPUT has provided housing for all admitted students in order to facilitate their integration into the school. This page contains additional information about the CPUT Application for Accommodation 2024-2025. Continue to read.

procedure for lodging applications

  • The CPUT Registration Office application form has two sections: academic and housing. Because of this, the two parts can now independently travel to the academic divisions and the housing unit at the same time.
This allows for student communication, placement, and selection. This also allows the unit to collect first-year student applications through its staff component without the need for a contract.
  • Senior students enrolled in CPUT who did not live in the residences the semester before submitting their application are considered first-time applicants for residences. To determine whether to accommodate first-time applicants, the following criteria will be used:

Letter from registration

  • Academic departments’ current letters to prospective first-year students need to be updated (Bellville Campus). The letters are written by different departments, and they occasionally mention a Placement Officer who left the organization five years ago. Academic departments should delegate housing details to Housing, as it will handle applications on its own.

First Year students

  • A minimum of 30% of all available housing units must be set aside for first-year students. First-year students who have taken and passed the matric exam will be chosen and placed during the selection period in October and November. First-year students can only be chosen and placed at the start of the year if their matric results are still pending at the time of selection. When selecting them, the Housing Unit will consider the following factors:
  • that they applied for accommodation
  • proof of having passed matric
  • acceptance to study at CPUT

First-time applicants

Senior students enrolled in CPUT who did not live in the residences the semester before submitting their application are considered first-time applicants for residences. To determine whether to accommodate first-time applicants, the following criteria will be used:

  • Candidates must reside more than 60 kilometers from the university.
  • availability of space

First-year students and returning students will be assigned to open positions after first-year and returning students have been assigned.

Returning students

Returning residents are students who have previously lived in residences for at least one semester. Returning students will be accommodated in their homes once more if:

  • 60% of the students who took examinations for pass them.
  • The previous semester, they submitted an accommodation request.
  • 60% of the subjects for which exams were written were passed.

Students on experiential learning

No student may live in a CPUT residence for more than six months while participating in experiential learning. Only students enrolled in the three-month experiential learning program are permitted to stay in the apartments during that time. If a student requested accommodations the previous semester, they will be allowed to return to the dormitories after their experience learning.
