BSc. Dietetics-University of Western Cape

The UWC BSc Dietetics program lasts four years. Students complete a variety of science and foundational nutrition courses over the first two years of study, which serve as the course’s foundation. The therapeutic nutrition, community nutrition, and food service management course majors, as well as modules in research methods, physiology, and pharmacology, are all included in the third-year program. The program concludes in the fourth year of study with a rigorous internship. To gain hands-on experience in the dietetics field, students are placed in nearby clinics and hospitals where they work under the supervision of registered dieticians or qualified food service managers. Students also finish modules in statistics and psychology during this time, along with a research project.
