The DUT General Admission/Application Requirements are listed below.

• To complete the application, you must have an email address.
• South African applicants will require an identification number. Foreign applicants will be required to provide their passport numbers.
• You must pay the application fee once you have received your student number from DUT.
• Check that your documents are scanned in accordance with the guidelines.
• You will be admitted to DUT if you meet the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.
• If you do not meet these requirements, you should consider alternative qualifications or, if you qualify, an extended program that allows you to register for limited modules in your first year.
• Students who graduated from the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) School of Tomorrow may be ineligible for admission to DUT.
• Some DUT qualifications have a limited number of available seats. Meeting the general and/or specific admission requirements for a qualification does not guarantee you a place for the 2024 academic year.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Before applying to Durban University of Technology, there are a few things you should know:

• Closing Dates: Do you know when the DUT Applications close? Simply go here.
• Postage/Courier vs. Online: Some universities accept applications online, while others only accept hard copies. Some companies provide both. Consider this when beginning the application process.
• Examinees’ Scores: Your Grade 11 results are critical to your application. Some universities will accept your Matric June results, so keep them handy!
• Financial Assistance: You may be eligible if your family’s income falls below a certain level. This will be a separate form, and you will need to have your parent’s or guardian’s payslip on hand as proof.
• Current Year’s Activity: If you’re in Matric, the university will need your school grades and details on your school activities. If you took a gap year, they will want to know where you went and what you did.
• Documents in Support: You will require:

  • Exam results
  • Proof of residence
  • The most recent payslip NEVER sends the original documents.

Check that all of the following details are correct: Fill out your application form slowly and thoroughly before submitting it online. Fill out a hard copy with a pencil first, then with a blue or black pen.
Payment of the Application Fee: Check the required amount, then EFT or pay it at the bank. Never, ever post it. If payment proof is required, send it to the university.
Signing the Declaration of Independence: Read through the form to ensure that all of your information is true and correct. It must be signed by both you and your parent/guardian.
Acceptance: You will be notified of your acceptance via email or letter. Continue to work hard and make the minimum initial payment by the due date.

NBT Test (with 3 Years Validity): Writing an NBT test is always recommended, though not all universities require it.
