The FET Colleges Act no. 16 of 2006, as amended, governs the Ekurhuleni West Technical, Vocational, Education and Training College (EWC), a public institution. It was created in accordance with the Further Education and Training Act, Act No. 98 of 1998, as stated by the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education (Gauteng Province) in an Extraordinary Provincial Gazette (dated 7 December 2001).

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, in the South African province of Gauteng, is home to the Ekurhuleni West TVET College. EWC operates in diverse and broadband communities and has six (6) campuses:

  • Alberton
  • Boksburg
  • Germiston
  • Kathorus, (in Katlehong/ Vosloorus/ Thokoza)
  • Kempton (in Kempton Park)
  • Tembisa.

When was the online application due?

  • Applications are accepted at Ekurhuleni West College (EWC) from September 1 to November 30. Remember, the application deadline is subject to change at any time without prior notification. Always confirm with the school administration.

To apply to Ekurhuleni West TVET College, you must submit the following documents:

  • an email address that is valid and distinct, as well as a phone number
  • each parent’s or guardian’s identification in three official duplicates
  • Three certified copies of learners’ identification are needed for those from South Africa.
  • The passport numbers of international applicants will be requested.
  • a photocopy of your academic transcript (eg Senior Certificate)
  • Proof of residency and a certified copy of your most recent test results (Grade 9 or higher).
  • Proof of health insurance or coverage from other countries that SAQA has approved with a valid study permit and good standing

Ekurhuleni West TVET College application procedures:

  • Please keep in mind that before starting this process, you must have an email address.
  • During this process, make sure that every required document has been individually scanned and is prepared for upload.

You must upload the following files:

  • All you need is a certified copy of your ID, your most recent test results, and proof of residency.
  • To access the returning student iEnabler, enter your pin and student number if you already have one.
  • On https://ienabler.ewc.edu.za/pls/prodi03/w99pkg.mi, returning students can log in.
  • If you are a new applicant, please continue with your application.
  • The entry requirements can be found at http://www.ewc.edu.za/courses.htm.

Directions
FROM PRETORIA

  • Take the R21 (Alberta Sisulu Freeway) to OR Tambo (JHB) International Airport from Pretoria Fountain Circle.
  • Go up to the Engen Highveld One Stop along the R21.
  • Take the R25 (Tembisa North / Olifantsfontein) off-ramp to exit.
  • At Stop street, turn left.
  • Turn left at the robot (Lafarge Cement).
  • Now that you’re on Old Pretoria Road, keep going straight.
  • Pass a traffic circle, three robots, and another robot.
  • After turning left onto Partridge Avenue, immediately turn left onto Coral Avenue.
  • In front of you will be the Kempton Campus entrance.

FROM JOHANNESBURG

  • To get to Pretoria, take the R21 (Alberta Sisulu Freeway) after taking the R24 in the direction of OR Tambo (JHB) International Airport.
  • Take the off-ramp for Voortrekker Road/Airfreight.
  • Turn left at the robots, then proceed past Shoprite Checkers and a fountain on your right.
  • When the road splits, stay to the right and continue on Voortrekker Road until it comes to an end. At the T-intersection, turn right onto Pretoria Road.
  • After passing the Sir Pierre van Rhyneveld High School on your right and the Van Riebeeck Park Station on your left as you continue along Pretoria Road, cross the 4-way robot.
  • After passing the station, take the second right (at the Allen Grove sign) into Partridge Avenue and then the first left into Coral Avenue.
  • The Kempton Campus entrance will be directly in front of you.

  • On the campuses of EWC, there are no accommodations available for students.
