• The name “Ekurhuleni” is derived from its geographical and municipal location.
  (the Southern Service Delivery Regions [SDR]), which includes Germiston (as regional center), Alberton, areas of Boksburg, Katlehong, Thokoza, Vosloorus, and sections of Freeway Park, and the Northern Service Delivery Regions [SDR], which includes Kempton Park (as regional center), Tembisa, Edenvale (including Bedfordview and Primrose), and the College.
• It was established under the Further Education and Training Act, Act No. 98 of 1998, which was declared as such in a Provincial Gazette Extraordinary by the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education (Gauteng Province) (dated 7 December 2001).
• The Ekurhuleni West TVET College is located in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality of South Africa’s Gauteng Province.
