How to Apply Wits online 2024-2025

This page provides instructions on applying online for Wits in the academic year 2024–2025.

• The admission period for the class of 2024 spans from May to August 2023.

Payment of the Application Fee

• South African nationals must pay an R100 non-refundable application fee.
• R700 is the non-refundable application fee for foreign nationals.
• Payments must be received prior to the closing dates.
• As a reference, use your Person Number or T Number.

Please include any supporting documentation.

• You can now upload supporting documents via the student self-service portal at https://self-service.wits.ac.za if you did not when you applied.
• Enter the first six digits of your ID as well as your personal number (not your T number) to log in.
• Present-day pupils: Please send in your Grade 11 final grades (no hardcopy required).
• Already registered? All of your matriculation/exit certificates should be uploaded in certified copy format.
• Additional Postsecondary Institutions Upload a certified copy of your official academic transcripts, along with a statement or certificate attesting to your good moral character, for ALL tertiary registrations. (Please note that GEMP applicants’ interim, self-service generated results will only be taken into account for initial assessment purposes.)

• Up to three programs may accept your application (the order of choice does not matter).
• It is best to submit one application for a program in a less restrictive faculty if you want to apply to two programs within the same faculty (e.g. Humanities, Commerce, or Science).
• Especially if you’re applying to programs at faculties like engineering or health sciences, keep your options open.
• Don’t enter the duration of the program. You’re requesting approval to enroll in your first year of college.
• Foreigners must pay R700 in addition to the R100 non-refundable application fee that South African citizens must pay.
