If you were one of the millions who received the R350 grant, it is critical that you understand how to reapply for it. Here’s how to submit your Sassa application for the R350.

Beneficiaries of the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant were advised to reapply for the Sassa grant by April, 2024. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) confirmed in a statement:

Make sure you meet the following requirements before submitting your Sassa online application:

• Citizens of South Africa/permanent residents/refugees/asylum seekers/holders of special permits
  Unemployed
• Have no other means of earning a living or receiving financial support.
• Between the ages of 18 and 60 years old

Furthermore, Sassa R350 grant recipients who will be considered under the new regulations (Social Assistance Act) should have an income eligibility threshold of R350 – that is, individuals with monthly incomes less than R350.

According to Oliphant, the entire application system is still a purely digital process, allowing for quick access and turnaround times.

Other channels for SRD Sassa applications have yet to be confirmed.

Sassa has also stated that clients are not required to apply each month, but must visit the Sassa website every three months to answer a few questions if they still require the grant.

The SRD grant has been extended for an additional year, from April to March 2023.
