The first two components of the Bachelor of Arts degree program in international studies are the major core courses, which comprise fundamental study in art history, economics, geography, history, political science, religion, and women’s studies. Working in a particular field is the third component.

Admission requirements
- Admission to the university requires the Independent Examination Board’s National Senior Certificate or school-leaving certificate, as certified by Umalusi with admission to bachelor’s degree studies, or a university exemption certificate issued by the South African Matriculation Board to students with other school qualifications.
- To be admitted to bachelor’s degree programs, you must have at least a 4 (50-59%) in each of the four allowed university admission disciplines.
