- Nkangala TVET College was established in 2003 as a result of the merger of the Witbank, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo, and CN Mahlangu campuses (formerly Technical Colleges) in the Nkangala region. Waterval boven Campus was transferred from Ehlanzen FET College in 2011. The college was established following the passage of the FET Act by Parliament in 1996.
- The College is the largest educational institution in the Mpumalanga Province, serving the Nkangala community. CN Mahlangu and Waterval Boven are mostly rural areas.
- The majority of students come from the urban areas of Witbank and Middelburg, which are the most densely populated in the region. The remaining students are from former Kwa-Ndebele and Waterval Boven rural areas. In 2007, there were 719 students enrolled in NC(V) programs and 11,917 students enrolled in Nated 191 courses. More than 95% of our students come from previously underserved backgrounds.
