Established in 2002, Northlink College resulted from the amalgamation of four colleges in the greater Cape Town metropolitan area: Wingfield Technical College (comprising campuses in Wingfield, Goodwood, and Table Bay), Tygerberg College (located in Tygerberg and Parow), Protea College, and Bellville Technical College. In 2005, Northlink expanded its reach by incorporating Belhar College, a private educational institution.
The name “Northlink” is a combination of “north,” reflecting the college’s geographic location in Cape Town, and “link,” symbolizing the initial connection of the former colleges. Significantly, it underscores the vital link between school education and the world of work.
