NSFAS Online Application for the 2024-2025 Academic Year: The NSFAS online application period is scheduled to commence on November 2, 2024, and will conclude on January 21, 2024. Prospective applicants without university or TVET College admissions are strongly encouraged to apply for the 2024 academic year at their chosen institutions before the application portal closes. To initiate an application for the NSFAS Bursary for the 2024-2025 academic year, applicants must first register and create a MyNSFAS profile on the NSFAS website. This profile serves as their personal account, allowing them to log in for application updates and receive funding-related information throughout the year.
Eligibility for NSFAS Bursary:
- All South African citizens.
- All recipients of SASSA grants are eligible for funding.
- Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum.
- Individuals with disabilities, provided their combined household income is no more than R600,000 per annum.
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018, with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum.
Mandatory Supporting Documents for the Application Process:
- Provide your personal cellphone number and email address.
- Ensure you have a copy of your ID or birth certificate for verification.
- Include national ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse, as applicable.
- If necessary, submit evidence of your income or your 1-year IRP5.
- Additionally, include proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, there is no requirement to furnish evidence of income.
- Applicants with disabilities must submit a fully completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
- Those recognized as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
