Checking Your NSFAS Online Application Status for 2024-2025: NSFAS, in accordance with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme Act (Act 56 of 1999), was established to provide financial assistance to individuals seeking to pursue further education but facing financial constraints. The bursary program offers two categories of funding, namely university funding and TVET College funding. After submitting your NSFAS application, you can anticipate a response within a few days of the application deadline. If you haven’t received communication from NSFAS, you can independently verify the status of your application.
How to Verify/Check Your NSFAS Online Application Status:
- Access your myNSFAS account portal.
- Provide your ID or username and password.
- Click the “SIGN IN!” button.
- Once you’re logged into your account dashboard, select “Track Funding Progress” to assess your application status.
- If your application is successful, congratulations! If not, better luck next time.
Eligibility for NSFAS Funding:
- All South African citizens.
- All recipients of SASSA grants are eligible for funding.
- Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum.
- Individuals with disabilities, provided their combined household income is no more than R600,000 per annum.
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018, with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum.
Mandatory Supporting Documents for Completing the NSFAS Online Application:
- Provide your personal cellphone number and email address.
- Ensure you have a copy of your ID or birth certificate for verification.
- Include national ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse, as applicable.
- If necessary, submit evidence of your income or your 1-year IRP5.
- Additionally, include proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, there is no requirement to furnish evidence of income.
- Applicants with disabilities must submit a fully completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
- Those recognized as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

How to Apply NSFAS Online Application
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
