The LLB, or Bachelor of Laws, is one of the most common law jurisdictions and is required in South Africa to practice law. Here are some South African universities where you can study LLB part-time.

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program equips students with solid legal knowledge of the general principles of the South African legal system, as well as the ability to use legal materials effectively.

The LLB degree is widely available and is offered by the majority of South African universities. The program lasts at least four years but can be reduced to two years if you have prior academic qualifications in law.

Criteria for Admission:

  • If the applicant’s highest qualification is an NSC-Degree (i.e. Matric), we will require: a minimum APS of 32, excluding Life Orientation; English (Home Language) at Level 5, or English (First Additional Language) at Level 6; Maths at Level 3 or Mathematical Literacy at Level 5; Endorsement or University Exemption on the applicant’s Matriculation Certificate; Endorsement or University Exemption on the applicant’s Matriculation Certificate
  • If you have one or more recognized tertiary qualifications, your application will be primarily evaluated on the basis of these qualifications, taking into account their nature, level, and other relevant factors.
