  • South West Gauteng College is governed by the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No. 16 of 2006, as amended. It is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution that was previously known as a Further Education and Training (FET) college. The Department of Higher Education and Training is in charge of it (DHET). SWGC is currently accepting applications for the second semester. APPLY

South West Gauteng TVET College Admission Requirements

Standards for NC(V) Courses;

  • Students may study for a total of four years for NC (V) Levels 2, 3, and 4, taking into account potential subject failures.
  • The minimum entry requirement is NQF1, or Grade 9, and AET Level 4.
  • The NC (V) policy has served as a guide and a point of reference for the entry requirements. For qualification entry, a point system will be in place.

Standards for Report 191 Courses;

  • Minimum admission requirements in accordance with NATED Policy. Graduates of Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4 will be admitted to N4.
  • Occupational Course Prerequisites: Students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and wish to pursue a career as an artisan will be admitted to N1 based on a point system.
  • Minimum entry requirements based on registered Skills Programmes/Learnerships approved by QCTO/SETA
  • A student who has previously enrolled in NC(V) or Report 191 programs must have completed the NC(V) or Report 191 program in order to be considered for an Occupational Programme (passed all subjects).

Additional Requirements for Admission

  • To improve the quality and performance of specialized programs, the College Council established additional entry requirements for NC(V) level 2, Report 191 N1, and Report 191 N4 using a point system.

Filling Out the SWGC Online Application

Follow the steps outlined below when filling out your application forms.

  • You can find application forms on the College’s official website, or you can apply in person at any of the college campuses.
  • Download and fill out the application form for the portal.
  • Please include the documents listed below with your application.
  • a copy of the most recent outcome/qualification
  • Certified copy of an identity document
  • Please attach a medical statement from a registered doctor if you have a disability or an ongoing medical condition that requires you to seek special assistance from the College.
  • Hard-copy application forms must be clearly printed and filled out with a black pen. Your application form must be signed. Forms that are not signed will be returned.
