Ladysmith Specialized College was founded in the early 1960s as part of the Office of Education and Culture. It began by advertising adult self-improvement courses. By 1984, the college advertised formal preparation for commercial courses ranging from N1 to N3. This was extended to N4-N6 in both Trade and Building considerations in 1991.

Ladysmith Specialized College, Ezakheni Specialized College, Ezakheni Ex-college of Instruction, and Ezakheni Aptitudes Center merged to form Mnambithi TVET College in 2002. Mnambithi TVET College is located in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, in Ladysmith and Estcourt. Estcourt, Weenen, Bergville, Winterton, Pomeroy, Msinga, Dundee, Van Reenen, Mooi Conduit, Greytown, and Ladysmith are among its catchment areas.
