There are 50 accredited public Tvet colleges in South Africa. The Department of Higher Education and Training has made it possible to enroll 1 238 000 students in TVET Colleges between 2019 and 2020. The fact that a lot of South Africans are now enrolling in Tvet Colleges shows that they are still in the early stages of development.

The phrase “Technical and Vocational Education and Training” refers to the programs’ occupational or vocational nature and suggests that they are created to prepare students for a particular job, a wide range of career options, or self-employment. Young people are primarily educated in TVET colleges in order to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary in the workplace.
They support students who want to complete their education as well as those who want to enroll in vocational programs following the completion of Grade 9 or the Grade 12 high school diploma.
