With 50 Technical Vocational Education and Training colleges available around the country, studying at a TVET college is definitely something to think about.

TVET colleges are part of the South African education system since they offer a wide range of courses to students.

TVET colleges offer four primary categories of qualifications. The National Certificate Vocational, NC(V) credentials, the Report 191 Programmes, the National Introductory Certificate (N4), and National Certificates (N4).

These credentials are available in a variety of courses ranging from agriculture to arts and crafts to corporate management and administration.

Most students enroll in a TVET institution because they want to work in a certain trade or skill-related field.

Requirements to study at a TVET college:

Be at least 16 years or older
Have a Grade 9 Qualification or ABET level 4 certificate

Although a grade 9 pass is required for enrolment, several courses do need you to have a matric certificate.

If you prefer practical work over theory, TVET college courses are ideal; however, some courses cover both practical and academic components of learning.
