University of KwaZulu-Natal

  • The University of KwaZulu-Natal, also known as UKZN, is a South African university with five campuses in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The University of Natal and the University of Durban-Westville merged to form it on January 1, 2004. Edgewood, Howard College, Medical School, Pietermaritzburg, and Westville Campus are the five campuses.

Durban University of Technology 

  • Durban University of Technology (DUT), founded in 2002, is a technical university that offers a variety of departments as well as short courses. It has five Durban campuses and two in Pietermaritzburg. Durban is home to the Brickfield, ML Sultan, Ritson, Steve Biko, and City Campuses. Pietermaritzburg is home to the Indumiso and Riverside campuses. The University is one of only five technical institutions in Africa that offers Doctoral Degrees.

University of Zululand

  • The University of Zululand (also known as UNIZULU) is located in KwaZulu-Natal, just south of Empangeni and north of the Thukela River. In keeping with the government’s vocational approach to higher education, UNIZULU provides a mix of university courses and career-focused programs that meet the needs of industry stakeholders as well as the rural community. As a result, the university meets the needs of both ‘entrepreneurial’ and ‘alternative’ education.

Mangosuthu University of Technology

  • The Mangosuthu University of Technology, formerly known as Mangosuthu Technikon, is a technical university on the outskirts of Durban, near Umlazi. MUT, a Zulu-speaking university, equips students with career-oriented skills through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work experience. This is accomplished through close collaboration with commerce and industry to ensure that the curriculum of a particular qualification is market relevant and relevant to the chosen field.
