Admission Point Score (APS)

  • Are you a candidate who has finished or is currently writing the NSC matriculation? Please review the information about admission requirements below if you are.
  • Note that this is merely an idea. Even if you meet the requirements, you might not get a spot. Final selection is based on available space, academic standing, and any additional entry requirements that may apply.

The following is how Wits determines the grade for each subject:

  • Either as a first additional language or as a home language, English must be studied.
Mathematics is a prerequisite for all numerate programs in Engineering and the Built Environment, Business, Law and Management, and Science.
  • Math literacy is accepted for some degrees (see Admission Requirements (NSC)).
Wits do not distinguish between subjects that are designated and those that are not when determining the admission point score (APS)
  • The top seven subjects, including Life Orientation, are used to calculate the APS.
