- On July 1, 2005, Walter Sisulu University (WSU) was established in accordance with the Higher Education Act No. 101 of 1997, as amended.
Nelson Mandela’s close colleague, the late Walter Max Ulyate Sisulu, was a hero of the South African liberation struggle, and the new university bears his name.
The Council, Management, and WSU stakeholders requested that WSU be placed under administration in October 2011. The Administration’s term ended on April 30, 2014. Numerous new systems and procedures have been implemented over the last two and a half years to stabilize the university and set the organization on a new path. - WSU is implementing a significant turnaround strategy to strengthen infrastructure and assess the academic enterprise, information technology infrastructure, financial sustainability, and human resources. On January 17, 2014, a new institutional law was published, and a new council took over as administrator in May 2014, succeeding Professor Lourens van Staden.

WSU’s online registration dates
- Admission applications for the class of 2024 will be accepted beginning May 1 and will close in August 2024.
Use the internet to apply
- Go to http://ngpi.wallst.ru/index-43.htm to register for the online system. making use of your email address and a password
- After that, you will receive an email with a link to activate your account.
- To activate your registration, click the link.
- As a result, you must return to WSU and click on the Admission/Another tab (clicking the right button here is important)
- Log in with the username and password you created in step one.
- Before submitting your application, click the button to accept the terms and conditions.
- After submitting your application, you must pay the R100 application fee. The system gives you several options.
If you pay your application fee at a bank, please email us the deposit slip, referencing your application number. - Your application will be processed once you have completed the preceding steps, and you will be assigned a student number and login.
