This page provides details regarding WSU online Registration for the academic year 2024-2025.

  • On July 1, 2005, Walter Sisulu University (WSU) was established in accordance with Higher Education Act No. 101 of 1997, as amended.
The new university is named after the late Nelson Mandela’s close ally and a legendary figure in South Africa’s liberation movement, Walter Max Ulyate Sisulu.
WSU was placed under management in October 2011 at the request of the Council, Management, and WSU stakeholders. This presidency ended on April 30, 2014. Numerous new procedures and systems have been implemented over the last two and a half years to stabilize the university and set it on a new path.
  • Significant infrastructure improvements, a reassessment of the academic business, ICT infrastructure, financial sustainability, and human resource management are all part of WSU’s current turnaround strategy. A new institutional law was published on January 17, and a new council succeeded Professor Lourens van Staden as an administrator in May 2014.
WSU will focus on cutting-edge educational, research, and community collaboration initiatives that are sensitive to local, regional, and national development concerns while also being aware of continental and global imperatives.
