Apply for NSFAS 2024-2025: If you are facing financial challenges in financing your university or college education in South Africa, take a deep breath. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, a program administered by the South African government, provides financial aid to undergraduate students, helping cover the costs of higher education post-high school graduation. The NSFAS 2024-2025 application period is open from November 7, 2023, to January 21, 2024. All applicants are urged to apply before the application deadline.

Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?

• All South African citizens
• All SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum
• Persons with a disability, where the combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum
• Students who commenced studies before 2018 with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS:

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require additional information to process your application. Provide the following supporting documents for a successful application:

• Your personal cellphone number and email address
• Copy of your ID or birth certificate
• National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
• Evidence of income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
• Proof of income for parents, guardians, or spouse
• SASSA grant recipients do not need to provide evidence of income
• Applicants with a disability should submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
• Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application:

• Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
• Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
• Create a myNSFAS account (if you don’t know how, click HERE)
• Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
• Update your personal information
• Answer the questions on the screen
• Upload all required supporting documents
• Finally, click ‘submit’

How to Check NSFAS Application Status:

To check NSFAS Application Status, follow these steps:

• Visit NSFAS Status website: www.nsfas.org.za
• Log in to your myNSFAS account (if you don’t have one, create one – click HERE)
• Enter your User ID
• Type in the password created during the application process
• Click “Track Funding Progress” to check your NSFAS Application Status.
