Information on Admission
Prospective students must submit their completed application forms for admission to the CUT to the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services as early as possible in the preceding academic year or semester.

Following the processing of applications by the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit, a selection list is created and distributed to the various faculties.

Following receipt of the selection lists, the department head divides the applications into three (3) categories, namely:

Applicants who meet all admission requirements; Applicants who will be subjected to potential testing; Applicants who are academically unsuccessful.

The Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit notify applicants in the first category that their applications for admission to the CUT have been successful in writing.

The Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit notify unsuccessful applicants in the third category in writing that their applications for admission to the CUT have been denied.

Applicants in the second category are notified in writing by the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit that their admission applications are subject to potential testing. The date, time, and location of such testing will be clearly specified.

The potential is being tested as follows:

  • The applicant reports on the date, time, and location specified in the letter.
  • The Wellness Centre administers the testing, as described in the CUT admission regulations, on this occasion.
  • As soon as possible after the test, the results are arranged in hierarchical order.
  • The Wellness Centre distributes these results to the various faculties, and the relevant department heads make the final selection of applicants for specific learning programs.

Candidates who have successfully completed the selection process are notified in writing of their admission to the CUT by the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit; however, applicants in the first category will be given priority in terms of placement in learning programs, unless the Senate decides otherwise.

Candidates whose names have been placed on a waiting list after passing the potential test but have not been admitted are reconsidered during a subsequent evaluation opportunity. After final placement in the various learning programs, such candidates will receive a letter from the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit informing them that their admission applications were unsuccessful.

Candidates applying for admission to the following learning programs: Hospitality Management, Marketing, Emergency Medical Care, Tourism Management, Dental Assistance, Language Practice, and Art and Design should expect to go through one or more of the following procedures in addition to being tested for potential, namely:

  • Psychometric testing/evaluation
  • Portfolio submission
  • Interview
  • Completion of a questionnaire
  • Assessment of practical skills
  • Any other process, as approved by the Senate

After receiving an official letter from the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit stating that the candidate has been granted admission to the CUT, the candidate must indicate in writing whether he/she accepts the offer of admission before or on the date specified in the letter. Failure to do so may result in the offer expiring.

The Senate may, in due course, announce additional procedures designed to facilitate the execution of the standard procedure.

Standard administrative procedures and forms used in the event of changes to the CUT agreement.

When registering as a student at the CUT, the student signs a statement in accordance with section 3.2 I (6) of Chapter 4 of the CUT calendar, declaring that he/she will immediately notify the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services of any change of address in writing on the prescribed LS 149 form (available from the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services).

If a learning programme or subject is changed, the student must submit the prescribed LS 151 form (available from the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services), completed in triplicate and signed by the relevant programme head, to the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit before the predetermined deadline.

If studies are suspended, the prescribed LS 150 form (available from the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services) must be delivered to the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit, signed by the head of the department concerned.

The prescribed LS 150 form, signed by the Residence Manager of the relevant residence, must be delivered to the Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services Unit in the event of a change of residence or cancellation of board and lodging. If the LS 150 form is not submitted by the deadline, there will be no fee discount or refund.

To apply for a student card at a regional learning center, students must complete the prescribed LS 154 form (available from the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services) and submit it to the CUT along with a recent identity photograph.

If a student loses or misplaces his or her student card, he or she must immediately reapply for a new card using the prescribed LS 154 form (available from the Assistant Registrar: Academic Structure and Student Enrolment Services), because positive identification is required for access to all facilities on all campuses.
