NSFAS Application Deadline for 2024-2025: The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has initiated the application process for students seeking financial support at various South African institutions, including diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Specific dates and times have been established for the NSFAS bursary application and the subsequent closure of the application portal. It is imperative that applicants complete their applications before the closing time.

The NSFAS application period will commence on November 2 and conclude on January 21, 2024. The NSFAS Bursary Application Portal is set to close on the same date at 11:59 PM.

Eligibility for NSFAS Funding:

  • All South African citizens.
  • All recipients of SASSA grants are eligible for funding.
  • Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum.
  • Individuals with disabilities, provided their combined household income is no more than R600,000 per annum.
  • Students who began their studies before 2018, with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum.

Compulsory Supporting Documents for the Application Process:

  • Provide your personal cellphone number and email address.
  • Ensure you have a copy of your ID or birth certificate for verification.
  • Include national ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse, as applicable.
  • If necessary, submit evidence of your income or your 1-year IRP5.
  • Additionally, include proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, there is no requirement to provide evidence of income.
  • Applicants with disabilities must furnish a fully completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
  • Those recognized as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

It is crucial for applicants to meet the application deadlines and ensure all necessary documents are included to complete their NSFAS application for the 2024-2025 academic year.

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application when opened

  • Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
  • Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
  • Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
  • Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
  • Update your personal information
  • Answer the questions you see on the screen
  • Upload all the required supporting documents
  • Finally, you click on ‘submit

How to Check NSFAS Application Status

In order to check NSFAS Application Status, you must follow the simple steps below:

  • Visit NSFAS Status website: www.nsfas.org.za
  • Then, log in to myNSFAS account, if you don’t have one, create one. Click HERE
  • Enter your User ID
  • Type in the password you created during the application process.
  • Click “Track Funding Progress” to check your NSFAS Application Status.
