Creating a MyNSFAS Account for 2024-2025: NSFAS is a government student financial aid scheme designed to support financially disadvantaged undergraduate students in South Africa with their tertiary education expenses. However, in order to receive your monthly funds, you must establish an account with them. This process is straightforward. First, ensure your eligibility for funding and gather all the necessary documents.
Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?
- All South African citizens
- All individuals receiving SASSA grants are eligible for funding.
Applicants with a combined household income of no more than R350,000 per annum qualify.
Individuals with disabilities can apply if their combined household income does not exceed R600,000 per annum.
Students who commenced their studies prior to 2018 and have a household income of no more than R122,000 per annum are eligible.
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
In order to facilitate the processing of your application, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require additional information from you. To ensure the success of your application, you need to submit the following supporting documents.
- Please provide your personal cellphone number and email address.
Ensure you possess a copy of your ID or birth certificate.
Include national ID copies for your parents, guardians, or spouse.
Submit evidence of your income or your IRP5 for the past year, if required.
Also, provide proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
If you are a SASSA grant recipient, there’s no need to furnish income documentation.
Applicants with disabilities should supply a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
For applicants identified as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development, please provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application When Open
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
