Academia is a one-of-a-kind place to live. As the only affiliated private residence, it provides the best of both worlds: the same academic, sporting, and cultural ties as any other Stellenbosch University residence, but with the freedom and opportunities that only a standalone establishment can provide.

The complex consists of 26 blocks with a total of 954 beds in a variety of accommodation types. Some of the ground-floor units may be accessible to people with disabilities.

Academia is set in a landscaped park-like setting with 24-hour security control. There are CCTV cameras throughout the property, as well as officers on foot patrol. Residents use their student cards to gain access, and those with vehicles must display a parking disc.

Academia student accommodation, Stellenbosch University’s only affiliated private residence, is located in the heart of ‘Eikestad’ (the ‘City of Oaks’). This means that students can not only walk to classes (the Engineering Faculty is across the street), but they can also immerse themselves in the full social, cultural, and educational experience of living in a university town.
