• Over 17 million South African beneficiaries receive social grants through the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). The SASSA award installment framework is expected to be supplanted by the new South African Income Administration (SARS) framework, called Sassa Srd Apply, from 1 April 2019. Instead of having to go to a SASSA office, grant recipients can apply for and receive their funds online through the Sassa Srd Apply system. In order for recipients to receive their grants through the Sassa Srd Apply system, they will need to possess a current bank account. Recipients will need to register on the Sassa website in order to use the Sassa Srd Apply system. After that, they will be able to check the status and history of their grants online and submit an application for one.
