According to the South African Social Security Agency, parents must visit their closest SASSA branch and present the following documents in order to cancel their SASSA Child grant:

• Letter of appointment or copy of latest payslip
• Latest 3 months’ bank statement
• Birth certificate of the child
• And the parent’s Identity Document

The South African Social Security Agency makes monthly payments of the SASSA child grant to children under the age of 18 who were born after December 31, 1993, and who live in South Africa.

How to apply for a grant for child support:

• Visit and apply at the SASSA office closest to you.
• In the presence of a SASSA officer, fill out the application form.
• When the application is finished, you will be given a receipt.
• Keep the receipt because it is your only proof of registration.
• Please provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
• Provide the caregiver’s identification.

In the event that your award application is fruitful, you will be paid from the date on which you applied. Additionally, a SASSA payment card will be issued to you, which you will use to access the funds.
