The R350 grant is back for a new application period that opened on Friday, August 6. SASSA has established a deadline, similar to the previous application cycle.

On Friday, August 6, a new round of applications for the R350 grant became available. SASSA, like the last application cycle, has established a payment deadline.

Applicants for the new R350 grant have until March 2022 to apply. The new award cycle is open to all candidates who meet the eligibility requirements.

“The applications shall be considered from the month of application and paid up to 31 March 2022 provided the qualifying criteria continue to be met. Monthly validations will be done for every application”

Since no applications from previous grant cycles will be renewed, SASSA has urged previous applicants to reapply.

“There will be no automatic qualification – all applications must satisfy the criteria and will be subjected to the entire validation process every month”

Requirements for the R350 grant:

South African citizens/permanent residents/refugees/asylum seekers/holders of special permits
Unemployed
Have no other means of earning a living or receiving financial support.

Between the ages of 18 and 60

Additionally, caregivers who are not receiving any grants on their own behalf are eligible for the new grant cycle.

What If My Application Is Declined?
SASSA has an appeals process in place to assess rejected applications. Appeals can be filed on the SASSA website by following the steps below:

Visit the SASSA website at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
Scroll and check the “Application for reconsideration” heading
Select “click here to apply online or check reconsideration status”
Follow the prompts

Within 30 days of receiving the application outcome, appeals must be filed. Beneficiaries were informed by SASSA that rejected applications will not be reviewed automatically.
