The admission requirements for the Letjhabile-Libalele Nursing School are listed below. Before submitting an application, applicants must carefully read the instructions.

LETJHABILE-LIBALELE NURSING SCHOOL GENERAL NOTES

For admission to higher certificate or diploma programs and candidates educational certificate, prospective students must meet the statutory minimum requirements based on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent school leaving certificate.

  • Levels and symbols obtained during the June/September exams for Grade 12 or confirmation that the current employer is processing study leave will be used to determine provisional admission. However, the final decision regarding enrollment at Letjhabile-Libalele Nursing School will be based on the applicant’s final 12th grade grades, confirmation that the applicant has been granted study leave by the employer, and evidence that the applicant has not yet reached the pensionable age, which is 55 to 60 for all college programs.
    For each program, there are specific requirements. The Admission Point System, or APS, is used to assign points to your NSC or equivalent subjects:

For example, to register for a Basic Diploma you need an APS of at least 18 with a NSC/equivalent pass of Biology/Life Science at Level 4 or D Symbol and English at Level 3 or E Symbol Aggregate:

Applicants have to meet the requirements for admission into the Diploma as she is above 18 points 

  • Due to the South African Nursing Council’s accreditation capacity, each program has a cap on the number of students it can admit. Even if you meet the minimum requirements, you won’t automatically be accepted into the program or registered. Tests and interviews will be required of candidates in order to further screen them.
    Candidates who have post-matriculant experience or a certificate related to health will be registered according to the quota for that group, which is as follows:
    Scholars: 50% of candidates who hold a certificate from pre-NSC Grade 12: 20% of candidates who have post-matric experience or a certificate related to health: 10% of Active Duty Officers: 20% Please be aware that the college’s admission requirements are subject to change, and
    will make significant investments in nurses for ECDoH facilities;
    will not invest in candidates who have tried other options, such as dropped out of universities, technical schools, or colleges;
    will not make investments in candidates who possess additional qualifications. The candidate will be disqualified in the event that this is discovered at any point during the procedure.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Full-time enrollment is required for all of our courses. An entrance exam is used to determine a student’s level of comprehension in relation to the course to which they are applying for admission.

  • Admission Requirements for Bridging Course (R683)
    a. 65% pass mark in the entry exam
    b. You must study full-time (if it is part-time, permission to study from the place of work is required)
    c. Copies that have been police certified and are clearly legible.
    Standard 8, 9, 10, or equivalent copies three times.
    – A letter of support from the employer or recognition of prior learning (if you have no matric)
    – At least two (2) years of experience working or being employed as an enrolled nurse
  • – Indemnity e.g. Denosa, Nehawu, etc. x 3
    – ID copy x 3
    – Marriage certificate/Divorce decree (where applicable) x3
    – Affidavit (where applicable)
    – SANC current receipt x 3
    – SANC certificate x 3
    d. ID size photos x 3

Additional Information for Foreign learners

  • – Copies of the following in clear, legible, and certified by the police:
  • – Copy of passport x 3
    – Study permit x3
    – SAQA approved/converted results x3
    – Letter of support from the Foreign Workforce Programme
    – Letter of support from the Embassy
    – Medical Aid membership proof

NB: Please include any additional requirements outlined for the program for which you are registering.

All students should keep in mind that the requirements outlined above are set by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and are non-negotiable.

The South African Nursing Council has not yet granted Letjhabile Libalele Nursing College accreditation to provide the new qualifications:

  • R169 – Higher Certificate: Auxiliary Nursing
    R171 – Diploma in Nursing: Staff Nurse
