Requirements for Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing Program:

  • English or home language at least 40% (NSC level 3) as a home language or first additional language.
  • Life Science/ Biology 50% or more (NSC level 5)
  • An overall NSC score of at least 16 points.

Diploma in Nursing

The Diploma in Nursing is a three-year program that prepares nurses for the workforce. It gave potential nurses the in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry they need to become staff nurses.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Sciences

Students receive instruction in Nursing Science throughout this four-year degree program. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science is a comprehensive and in-depth nursing science program that equips students with a comprehensive understanding of patient care.

You can work as a psychiatry nurse, a midwife, a general nurse practitioner, and other similar positions with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing science. You will earn the title of Registered Nurse with this degree, and it is expected of you that you can handle both the theoretical and practical aspects of nursing.

Requirements for Bachelor’s Degree In Nursing Sc.:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) or equivalent.
  • Pass the following subjects; Mathematics, English, First or Home Language, Life Orientation, Life Science
  • You must enroll as a nurse with the South African Nursing Council.

Advanced Diploma in Nursing

This one-year program gives nurses all the advanced patient care training they need. It gives you the additional information you need to lead in nursing.

You will be ready for a career in nursing management with an Advanced Diploma in Nursing. To enroll in this program, they must meet the same general requirements as the previous program:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) or equivalent.
  • Pass the following subjects; Mathematics, English, First or Home Language, Life Orientation, Life Science
  • You must enroll as a nurse with the South African Nursing Council.

For the Advanced Diploma in Nursing, you must also meet the following requirements in addition to the ones listed above:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or at least a Diploma in Nursing
  • You must have two years of hands-on experience as a nurse or a midwife
  • Show considerable confidence in carrying out your duties.

How to enroll in a nursing program in South Africa

  • You can apply to the School of Nursing after confirming that you meet the requirements for the nursing program of your choice. The location of the school you are applying to should be taken into consideration.
  • For the application form, contact your preferred institution via email, visit the school, or visit the school’s website. You can inquire at a nearby hospital about nursing programs that are offered by some hospitals.
  • Registering with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) is the next step. Before beginning classes in the nursing program for which you applied, you must register. In other countries, registration comes after you finish your nursing program, but in South Africa, it’s the other way around.
  • When you are accepted into a nursing program, you must attend all classes and complete them. Attending classes is crucial because many of the nursing program’s courses will involve hands-on experience.
