One of the four Schools in the College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS) is the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM). After operating as a department within the School of Biological Sciences for a number of years, the School was officially established in August 2014. The School currently has three departments: Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Adult Health Nursing, and Mental Health Nursing, with a total of 1,229 students, which includes both regular and sandwich students. Twenty-five (25) academic staff members and thirteen (13) administrative staff members make up the School’s total staff of thirty-eight (38) individuals. The School of Nursing and Midwifery is strategically located within the University of Cape Coast for the academic and professional development of professional nurses and midwives as well as the capacity building of upcoming generations of academics and scholars in the nursing and midwifery training and research fields.

About Programme:
A B.Sc. The following outcomes are expected from the nursing program:
- Create a workforce of nurses who can provide high-quality care to patients of all ages.Obtain a comprehensive nursing education to prepare a multidisciplinary nurse.
Enhance nursing practice at both the community and health facility levels.
Enhance Ghana’s nurses’ capacity for nursing research.
Prepare graduates for entry into the Ghanaian Nursing and Midwifery Council’s General Nursing Register.
Entry Requirements:
WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
- Applicants must have passes in all core subjects including, English, Mathematics and Science. In addition, candidates must have obtained good aggregate in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
Diploma Holders
- After passing an interview, professionals with a nursing diploma who also meet university entry requirements may be admitted to level 300. Study time must be granted to candidates.
Other Nursing Candidates
- After passing an interview, professionals with a Nursing Certificate (SRN) who meet the fundamental university entry requirements may be admitted to level 200.

How much does UCC nursing pay?
- In 2023, the cost of the one-year BSc Nursing Studies program will be €4,000. In 2023, the two-year program will cost €2,000 per year.
