Like doctors, nurses must be the source of all medical information. Patients must be triaged, treated, low-level procedures, tests must be performed, and general care must be provided by them.

• Caring for the elderly, mentally ill, or the sick is a challenging but rewarding job for nurses.
• Official statistics indicate that the NHS lacks approximately 40,000 nurses. Hospitals clearly face a crisis when it comes to providing adequate care as a result of this.
• However, there has never been a better time to train to become a nurse if you are thinking about changing careers.
• Obviously, you will still need a nursing degree. To enroll, you will need to meet the minimum requirements, as with all degree courses.

How to start your training

• A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required to become a nurse. Because you need to know how to care for patients safely, this is non-negotiable.
• You must meet the minimum requirements, as with any course. Although universities can set their own admissions requirements, you should expect to need at least two (usually three) A-levels.
• Nursing does not require a scientific background. However, it is not always necessary to have a solid understanding of biology to enroll in the course. Human biology will be covered in great detail in your nursing degree.
• Courses frequently specify one science, typically biology, as the preferred or essential A-level or equivalent subject. or a field of social science like psychology or sociology.
• The Scottish Wider Access Programme certificate and equivalent qualifications at level 3 are also accepted.
• Additionally, you will require English, math, and a science (usually biology or human biology) as supporting GCSEs. However, confirm entry requirements with the universities you have chosen.
• If you have relevant work or volunteer experience and/or qualifications in related fields, there may be some leeway.
• For those who do not meet the entry requirements, some universities provide a foundation year.
• Foundation courses give you the chance to start college right away, but they also take up a full year of your time and cost you an extra year of tuition.
• An already expensive procedure may become prohibitive as a result. From a financial, family, or employment standpoint, you may also not be ready to begin university studies.
