Cape Town
In Cape Town, you can find the following universities:
- The University of Cape Town is South Africa’s oldest university and one of the top ten best universities in Africa.
- Stellenbosch University is one of Africa’s top 20 institutions, ranking seventh among African universities in the 2018 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
- Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) was established as an independent public institution within Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality by an act of Parliament on March 23, 2008. It opened its doors to students on two campuses on January 1, 2009: Bellville Parklands Campus (main campus) and Port Elizabeth Campus. NMMU took over additional campuses in 2013, including Somerset West & Strand Campus (Western Cape), Eastern Cape – Port Elizabeth Campus; Kimberley Campus; Pretoria Campus; Durban North & Westville Campuses – which form part of a larger network with similar structures across South Africa, guided by NMMU headquarters in Bellville Parklands.
Johannesburg
Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest metropolis and home to several of the country’s most prestigious universities. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is ranked first in South Africa and has an excellent reputation. A bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD level qualification could be the qualification you pursue at UJ.
If you want to study occupational therapy at UJ, you have two primary options:
- Occupational Therapy (Bachelor of Science Honours) – This four-year program gives an honors degree in occupational therapy.
- Master of Human Biology (Occupational Therapy) – This course typically takes three years or six semesters to complete and gives an honors degree in human biology.
Stellenbosch
- Stellenbosch Institution is South Africa’s oldest university and one of the top 20 in the world.
- The Stellenbosch campus is about an hour outside of Cape Town, so you can experience all of the city’s famed attractions without having to cope with the city’s exorbitant rents or traffic jams. The medical school of the institution has a solid reputation, and it has continuously been listed among the finest in South Africa.
- Many students enjoy staying in this little town because it allows them to witness life before modernization took over most of Africa.
Durban
- With a population of over 3 million people, Durban is the most populous city in KwaZulu-Natal. It is well-known for its beaches and sun, and it has a large number of universities. The city also has a large number of hospitals, making it an excellent place to study occupational therapy.
