UWC Fees And Financial Aid

• The University of the Western Cape (UWC) provides opportunities to students who possess both academic qualifications and financial need, recognizing its role in facilitating access to higher education. These students are typically selected from underprivileged schools where they face challenges with resources and adversity but are determined to succeed. Our division operates from a Central Office responsible for managing student funding across the entire university.
• In collaboration with faculties and departments throughout the institution, the Central Office works closely to assist financially disadvantaged students. The Department of Student Funding manages the administration of NSFAS funds, bursaries, and scholarships. Consequently, we can inform students about NSFAS funding, bursary sponsors, and available scholarship opportunities.
• Located on the main campus of UWC, the Financial Aid Office is situated behind the administrative building (Prefabs), where financial aid advisors support students. Students in need of financial assistance should consult their financial aid advisors, who are ready to provide the necessary information.
• Student Funding serves as a connection between donors and financially deserving students with academic merit. Financial Aid Advisors collaborate closely with their assigned donors and act as the primary point of contact for donors. The Central Office also collaborates with the private, public, and non-profit sectors to welcome new sponsors eager to support UWC students. We highly value those who generously contribute to the University of the Western Cape students as they play a crucial role in supporting our students.

The Financial Aid Office aims to cultivate a culture centered on student needs while responsibly managing all financial aid funds. Leveraging technology to streamline financial aid processes, we strive to distinguish ourselves as leaders in financial aid services among peer institutions.
• We proactively plan for challenges arising from changes in federal, state, institutional, and private funding rules, as well as shifting economic conditions. Respecting the needs, values, and diversity of our students, parents, and colleagues, we aim to set an example of effective communication and teamwork for the entire campus. Our goal is to ensure smooth operations, allowing students to focus on their studies and ensuring wise use of institutional resources.
