When does it begin paying out and for how long is it legitimate?

The main R350 unique Coronavirus Social Alleviation of Pain (SRD) award is because of being paid out on 15 May.

The awards, because of run for quite a long time, thus due worth R2 100 each altogether, are accessible to all South Africans north of 18 who have no other type of pay and get no other type of government support.

Ways to apply:

  • WhatsApp message to 082 046 8553 (as of now not the Division of Wellbeing WhatsApp line on 060 012 3456, on which introductory tests were led)

Sassa is due to have a special section on its website, at https://www.sassa.gov.za/Pages/COVID-19_SRD_Grant.aspx

Contact number:

It’s possible that a recently changed cell phone number is the reason why an application is turned down.

Matching an applicant’s cell phone number to other government databases is one way the payment system checks for fraud.

The system will reject your application if the applicant previously provided a single cell phone number to an organization like the South African Revenue Service or the Unemployment Insurance Fund and now attempts to apply with a different number.

Address:

You do not need to provide address proof, but you must provide one.

How is it paid out?

Recipients who do not have bank accounts will have a choice of banks from which to obtain cash through an ATM.

Money will be distributed to those without bank accounts through the major banks’ cash-sending functions.

To withdraw money, these systems, such as eWallet for First National Bank and CashSend for Absa, require only information sent to a cell phone number, with no card or other identity verification required.
