Applications for the Special R350 Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant have been reopened by the South African Social Security Agency, more commonly referred to as SASSA. The application period will begin on August 6 and end in March 2022.

SASSA has given recipients admittance to numerous stages to apply for the R350 award as all applications should be done electronically/carefully.

How to apply online for an SRD grant

• Enter your mobile number
• Click “send sms”
• the one-time pin that SASSA sent to the number, and then enter it.
• Fill out the steps required by SASSA to continue the application process.

An applicant for the Social Relief of Distress Grant must give SASSA permission to verify his or her identity, residency, income, or social security benefits in order to access the program or to have the application reconsidered.

Additionally, applicants must agree to the declaration and consent.

In order for SASSA to process R350 grant payments as soon as applicants meet the requirements, the new procedure will now ask them for their banking information up front.

Numerous applications have been submitted to SASSA, which could slow down the online application process.

It is strongly recommended that applicants submit only one application across all platforms. As soon as the application has been submitted successfully, confirmation will be sent.

All applicants from the previous round are required to reapply for the grant. Clients who previously canceled the grant are welcome to reapply if their circumstances have changed and they wish to reactivate it.
