The President recently made the announcement that the R350 grant would be reinstated. Applications, on the other hand, have not yet opened, and payments have not yet begun.

However, SASSA has made it clear that there will not be any payments made in May, June, or July for the previous round of R350 grants, for which applications closed in April. However, payments for the months preceding April continue.

It is also essential to keep in mind that the R350 grant payment date is not predetermined.

The following payment dates for Kwazulu-Natal pay points were also announced by SASSA:

• Durban 6 – 12 August
• Pietermaritzburg 6 – 16 August
• Midlands 6 – 17 August
• uLundi 6 – 18 August

The organization wants to educate recipients that they don’t have to rush to make cash withdrawals on the first day. The funds will stay in the account until they are required once they are deposited.

In the current fiscal year, 18 million people would get social subsidies, costing SASSA R195 billion. Social grants account for 95% of the Department of Social Development’s (DSD) budget.
