The South African President established the special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) OF Sassa R350 to be given to South African citizens who are unable to work due to the pandemic.

Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, SASSA granted R350 grants to applicants for older people, foster children, and child support. However, as a result of the National State of Distress declaration, the president initiated the social relief of distress award.

To apply for an SRD, go to sassa.gov.za and follow the instructions. After clicking the “send SMS” button, enter the one-time pin that SASSA sent to the number.
