Information on Sassa Opens WhatsApp Line For R350 Grant Applications 2024-2025 can be found on this page.

With the implementation of new regulations, the R350 grant appears to have been renewed. More application portals are opening because beneficiaries must reapply.

After the National State of Disaster was lifted, the rules governing the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant were altered. Beneficiaries were consequently required to reapply.

On April 23, the SRD grant applications went live, and Sassa announced that shortly after, the WhatsApp line would open and be used for applications as well.

On Monday morning, Sassa formally announced that the WhatsApp line for R350 grant applications is now open:

Here’s how to apply for a Sassa SRD grant via WhatsApp:

  • Add 082 046 8553 to your phone’s contact list.
  • Send a message to this number on WhatsApp saying “hi.”
  • You will then receive a response, to which you should respond with the word ‘help.’
  • You will be given several options; select ‘4’.
  • This will take you to the Unathi Sassa platform message, to which you should respond ‘SRD.’ You must then confirm whether you are applying for yourself or someone else.
  • The application process now begins, and you must submit your name, surname, and ID number in the message.
  • You will then receive a Whatsapp message with the next steps.

An applicant must grant consent for Sassa to verify his or her identity, residency, income, or social security benefits in order to access or have your SRD grant application considered. Applicants must also accept and consent to the declaration and consent.

According to Sassa, all clients who reapplied using srd.sassa.gov.za should not apply on WhatsApp again.

According to reports, clients will be subjected to the SRD grant meanstest once a month to ensure that the beneficiary is still eligible for the grant. Sassa has confirmed that it will do so by conducting its meanstest through financial institutions.

Furthermore, clients have been advised to visit the website every three months to answer a few questions that help the Agency determine whether the individual still requires assistance.
