SASSA believes that the R350 grant application process should be as simple and straightforward as possible. Continue reading to learn how to submit an SRD grant application using GovChat as a result.
SASSA opened the second round of R350 grant applications in early August, which will be open until March 2024.
GovChat is one method for submitting an SRD grant application. This is how you do it:
- Go to the GovChat website
- Enter your phone number
- Complete the Captcha
- Click ‘LOGIN’
- Click on ‘SASSA Services’
- Click on ‘SASSA Grants’
- Click on ‘Apply for a grant
- Click on ‘Social relief of distress (R350)’
- Click on ‘Create New Form’
- Fill in the required information
- Click on ‘SUBMIT PERSONAL DETAILS’
- After that, you will be given a reference number.
All applicants will be required to sign a statement and consent form since SASSA will be engaging with other institutions to verify the information given by applicants.
To monitor the progress of your R350 grant application, you must run an SASSA grant status check. To find out how to do this, click here.
If your application is approved, you will receive a reward. Because SASSA will check to see if you still qualify whether or not SASSA approved your R350 grant application, you won’t need to submit an application every month.

Within 30 days of obtaining informed of your rejection status, you must file an appeal on the internet.
