University of Cape Town (UCT) Online Registration: The procedure for online registration at the University of Cape Town. UCT Online registration process

Each online registration has a specific process for prospective students to follow on their designated registration dates. It’s crucial for students to register promptly to avoid late registration.

29 January 2022 Residences open for all new students.
31 January 2022 Science Faculty orientation and registration commences
2 February 2022 Compulsory orientation activities & registration for all new students
14 February 2022 First day of lectures

UNDERGRADUATE RETURNING STUDENTS REGISTRATION

This regulation applies to all students who were previously enrolled in a BSc program at UCT before the commencement of the current academic year and are academically eligible to resume their studies.

Traditional on-campus registration will not occur as usual. Well in advance of the return to campus, students will be required to complete registration through the PeopleSoft system remotely. In January, detailed guidance on how to register using PeopleSoft will be provided. Therefore, it is crucial to regularly check your UCT email account.

UCT Registration Dates

The final results for this academic year will be made available on the system in December. Results for supplementary, deferred, and summer term exams in January will be released in January.

  • All returning students who do not have any unresolved issues or missing results by January 20, 2022, must register online between January 20 and January 28.
  • Students with any outstanding results (those writing supplementary, deferred and summer term exams) will be required to register from 31st January to 3 February .

Who should register and when?

Most returning postgraduate students and the majority of postgraduates are required to register at the beginning of the year. Only new PhD students and research master’s students (dissertation only) have the option to register at any point in the year.

New master’s and doctoral students

If you are registering for a thesis you will be asked to bring a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU is an agreement that is established between you and your supervisor and it sets the stage for the year ahead.

Please note that, once your online Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been granted, you will be required to complete your online registration via the  PeopleSoft Student Administration System
