The Social Relief of Distress clients’ access to their funds has been announced by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).

In a declaration, the Organization said:

If your application status is approved and you have a payment date, you may collect the funds at merchants/retail outlets.

Pasika Letsatsi, a spokesperson for Sassa, has advised customers to use supermarket payment methods like Boxer, Pick ‘n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, and USave and to use their Gold Sassa/Sapo card to withdraw funds.

A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the beneficiaries’ cellphones in order to withdraw their funds, so SRD grant recipients are urged to bring their ID documents and cellphones that they used when applying for their first grant.

The South African Post Office (Sapo) has clarified that customers who will be withdrawing money from a supermarket will receive the entire grant, down to the last cent. The Gold Sassa/Sapo card can be used at any ATM in the country, but the bank that owns the ATM will charge a fee for using it.

Letsatsi claims that employees from both Sapo and Sassa will be available to assist customers with the various payment methods.
