    The means test must be followed by both you and your spouse.
    In a state institution, you may not be cared for or maintained.
    A 13-digit barcoded identity document must be submitted.

Social Relief of Distress Grant

Social Relief of Distress is given to citizens or permanent residents of South Africa who don’t have enough money and meet one or more of the following conditions:
You are awaiting payment on a social grant that has been approved.
You have been found to be medically unfit to work for pay for less than six months.
  • The applicant submits their application within three months of the deceased breadwinner’s death.
  • There is no evidence that a parent, child, or spouse is legally obligated to pay maintenance, and efforts to obtain maintenance have been unsuccessful.
  • The provider of that individual’s family has been owned up to an establishment financed by the state (jail, mental clinic, state home for more seasoned people, treatment place for substance misuse or kid and youth care focus).
  • As defined by the Disaster Management Act or the Fund Raising Act of 1978, you have been affected by a disaster.
  • There is no other organization that is assisting you.
  • Unnecessary hardships will result if the application for social relief of distress is rejected.

War Veteran’s Grant

To fit the bill for the award, you should meet the accompanying prerequisites:
  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa.
  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • Either you must be over 60 or you must be disabled.
  • You must have served in the Korean War or the Second World War.
  • The means test must be passed by both you and your spouse.
  • In a state institution, you may not be cared for or maintained.
  • It’s possible that no other social grant is available to you.

COVID-19 SRD Grant

To fit the bill for the award, you should meet the accompanying prerequisites:

  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa.
    You must be a South African citizen.
    You must be over 18 to participate.
    You must not have a job.
