The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has acknowledged that the new threshold regulation’s implementation was delayed by two months. However, recipients of the R350 grant have been guaranteed that payments will continue to be made.

To coincide with the end of the National State of Disaster, the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant was introduced in May 2020 and was scheduled to expire in March 2022.

President Cyril Ramaphosa did share that recipients will continue to receive R350 per month and that the grant will be extended until March 2023.

Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu stated the following during a recent media briefing:

• There are 7.5 million people who are currently benefiting from the grant on a monthly basis.

Although the agency may have experienced some delays as a result of changes to its threshold regulation, it has promised to pay all R350 grant recipients.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says that the social grant payments for October will come before the September payments.

Sassa has confirmed that R350 grant payments should have begun on October 6th, 2022, and that October social grant payments will end on October 5th, 2022.
